About Me

My name is Ceri, I am open, honest, calm, kind and believe it would be a privilege to be able to work with you at your most challenging time. I have worked with vulnerable adults, children, young people and families for over 20 years, and I feel that this experience has provided me with an insight into how determined, resilient and empowered people can be. Every person is unique, and I will work with you to understand your life journey and explore your self-awareness.

I have experienced the benefits of counselling myself and this has led me to pursue a career in counselling. I am a person with a disability, and I have had to overcome diversity, physical and mental challenges over the years and therefore I have a special interest in disabilities. I am a trained meditation teacher and I practice meditation and mindfulness regularly. I am a creative individual, and I am passionate about arts and crafts and enjoy the experience of how creativity can help you manage your well-being.

Therapy Approaches

Humanistic Intergrative Approach

Humanistic integrative counselling places emphasis on the therapeutic relationship between the counsellor and client. This approach recognises the significance of integrating the mind, body, emotions, soul, and spirit in order to promote holistic healing and growth.  Humanistic therapy provides a safe and accepting environment that is non-judgmental and encourages self-exploration.  The humanistic approach is based on the belief that human nature is fundamentally good, and that everyone has the potential to discover their own answers to their problems.

Theoretical Approach

Humanistic therapy, often referred to as the humanistic approach, encompasses various therapeutic modalities such as person-centred therapy, Gestalt therapy, existential therapy, solution-focused therapy, and transactional analysis. These different approaches share a common focus on the individual's unique experience, personal growth, and self-actualisation.

How can we work together?

I will work with you and support you in exploring the issues that are important to you. I will assist you in understanding your emotions and taking responsibility for your thoughts and actions.  It allows you to uncover your motivations and abilities, find your own solutions, and break free from unhelpful patterns of behaviour.  The therapeutic relationship between yourself and I is crucial in humanistic therapy. It is important for you to feel comfortable being open and transparent, exploring your emotions, and expressing yourself freely. I will offer empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard, accepting you as you are.

What techniques will be used?

My core counselling techniques is person centred however as an integrative counsellor I will bring in elements of CBT, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness and Existential techniques into my practice.
